“The real adventure consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in seeing with new eyes” – Proust
Ours might be called “The Age of Disconnection” – but what is the root cause of that? Based on Philip Shepherd’s groundbreaking book, New Self New World, this entertaining talk reveals our culture’s long journey towards disconnection. More crucially, Philip shows how that disconnection is held in our bodies, and is reinforced by our language, hierarchies, architecture and values. But reconnecting with self and world can begin simply, by renewing our understanding of the body’s intelligence – which in turn renews our story of what it means to be human. The evening also includes some simple, practical exercises to begin that process.
